About Our Readings

This Winter Break we are going to be reading two books.
1. Life of Pi
by: Yann Martel
2. The Help
by: Kathryn Stockett

Reasons to Read These Novels:

Life of Pi is a literary piece that I'm told many students should know. I and many other students have heard numerous professors reference it and rave about its quality. This book is especially good to know for students thinking about Grad school! It will be interesting to explore this book with you all.

The Help has many reviews that state it was the best book of the year and that everyone should read it. I understand that The Help is a very influential book and that Stockett speaks on the importance of black women in the 60's. I believe this book will be an interesting read and will take us places this bleary winter.

You are welcome to join us in reading both books or you can choose one. A few of you have already indicated that you've read one of the books. Please still join our discussions. It will be interesting to have everyone's takes on these literary pieces.

Below are some links to the Amazon pages where you can purchase your copies. Life of Pi is relatively cheap to purchase. :)
